You’re Not Scattered, You’re Saturated:
Mapping the Noise Draining Your Energy

Why your brain feels fried (and how to clear the static so you can actually move forward)

If you’ve ever finally sat down to work, laptop open, coffee poured, house mostly quiet only to feel like your brain has 67 tabs open, you’re not alone.

One tab is screaming for attention, three are playing music and another is showing a meme you definitely didn’t search for.

And suddenly, before you’ve even started, you’re exhausted.
👉 This is not because you’re scattered.
👉 This is not because you lack discipline, motivation, or focus.

It’s because you’re drowning in noise.

And in Episode 88 of The Moxie Movement Podcast, I look at exactly what that noise is, why it’s frying your brain, and how to start clearing it without adding another thing to your already overflowing to-do list.

The Three Types of Noise Draining Your Energy

Why You Can’t Outwork This

The Simple Exercise That Changes Everything

Static vs Signal: The Filter That Brings Clarity Back

You Don’t Have a Focus Problem, You Have a Bandwidth Problem

Most of the women I work with are smart, capable, driven business owners.

They’re also mothers. Partners. Household CEOs. Community members. Leaders.

And they’re carrying far more than one human being was ever designed to hold.

When your brain feels fried it’s because it’s overloaded.

Your attention is saturated. And your decision-making muscle is exhausted. Which means your internal battery is running at about 8% by the time you sit down to work.

That’s not a personal failure. That’s a system problem.

To fix this, we have to name it. Because if you can’t see the noise, you can’t remove it.

1. Outside Noise

This is everything happening outside your home and mostly inside your phone.

Think the economy, news media, social feeds, other people’s opinions about your “cute little business,” and the ever-present experts telling you to manifest harder, hustle faster, or optimise one more thing.

It’s the group chat you never asked to be added to… and somehow can’t mute. Just because the entire world has opinions doesn’t mean you need to consume them all.

2. Home Noise (aka the Invisible Load)

This is the domestic circus radio that never switches off.

Uniforms. Lunches. Calendars. Holidays. Santa. The dog. And that laundry pile that’s now staring at you like your fourth child.

If you’re the primary parent and household leader (and statistically, if you’re a mum, you are), this noise follows you everywhere.

In the car, into that peaceful shower you were dreaming of and at 3am when you remember the washing you forgot to hang out.

This is the invisible load people talk about and it’s very, very real.

3. Internal Noise

This one’s the sneakiest.

It’s the voice that kicks in after dark. The comparison loop. The “you should be further ahead” soundtrack.

It’s your inner critic, your accountant, and the PTA forming a girl group and living rent-free in your head.

And here’s the danger: when you hear these messages often enough, you start believing them.

Your beliefs shape your actions. Your actions shape your results.

And suddenly you’re stuck in the same Groundhog Day results, not because you aren’t capable, but because you’re reacting instead of leading.

Let me say this loudly for the gals down the back:

You cannot outwork noise.

No colour-coded calendar, journaling ritual, 4am routine, ice bath, or mushroom tea is going to fix a bandwidth problem.

You don’t need more power. You need fewer tabs open.

Your discipline and willpower live in the same part of the brain that makes decisions and when you’re drowning in unmade decisions, that part of your brain is toast.

That’s why:
  • One chocolate becomes the whole block
  • One glass of wine becomes three
  • “I’ll just do it tomorrow” becomes a pattern

Not because you’re weak but because you’re depleted.

Here’s where we shift from awareness to action.

Grab a piece of paper and draw three circles:

  • A big one: Outside Noise
  • A medium one: Home Noise
  • A small one in the middle: Internal Noise

Now dump everything that’s pulling your attention into those circles.

Every pressure.
Every “should.”
Every unfinished thought.
Every obligation, cause, group, worry, comparison, or mental reminder.

Don’t tidy it.
Don’t be polite.
Just get it out of your head.

Once it’s on paper, you’ll see very quickly what doesn’t belong anymore.

Start small. Delete three things. (Unsubscribe, resign, mute and block are about to become your favourite friends!)

Simple doesn’t always mean easy but it is powerful.

From here, ask one question:

👉 Is this static or signal?

If it pulls you away from the parent, partner, leader, and business owner you want to be, it's static.

If it supports the most vibrant, clear, grounded version of you it’s a signal.

Not everything has to go today. But what if you removed one piece of static every day?

Your brain would breathe again, clarity would return and best of all your momentum would come back online.

If this blog hit home, chances are you don’t just need awareness you need support, structure, and clarity.
