Why Your Schedule Is Sabotaging Your Sales (and Your Sanity)

The Revenue-First Calendar Principle:
Why Your Schedule is Sabotaging Your Sales

if your sales are stalling, my first suspect isn’t the market, the economy, or the competition. It’s your calendar.

Yep, your calendar tells the truth about your priorities, even when your mouth doesn’t.

Too many brilliant businesswomen are letting the noise of the world, interest rates, recession headlines, and “quiet seasons” become the excuse for why sales are down. But when I peek inside their week? I don’t see sales-driving activities consistently showing up. And that right there is the problem.

The Glamour vs.
The Grind

I live on a tropical island in Thailand. Sounds dreamy, right? Sunshine, scooters, and scuba diving. But here’s the thing: it also rains hard. My office leaks, scorpions wander in, and snakes sunning themselves on my steps test my resolve.

It’s easy to glamorise the “good bits” and ignore the messy truth. Business is no different. For years, the market was strong, money was flowing, and running a business looked sexy. But now? The tide has turned. And if you only celebrated the wins in the sunny seasons, you’ll crumble when the rain shows up.

Business will always have yin and yang. You don’t get to cherry-pick the good times. Success comes from showing up consistently even when conditions aren’t perfect.

Your Calendar Never Lies

Here’s what I see over and over:

  • Sales get pushed to the bottom of the to-do list.
  • “Commission breath” kicks in when the bank account runs low, and clients can smell desperation.
  • Business owners are terrified of being unavailable to clients, to family, to their team so they’re always on-call, never strategic.

Sound familiar?

Your calendar will always tell on you. If sales activities aren’t blocked in deliberately follow-ups, client calls, marketing actions they won’t happen consistently. And if they don’t happen consistently, the results won’t either.

Sales are a lag metric. The money you see today is a direct reflection of what you did (or didn’t do) 30, 60, or even 180 days ago. If you’ve got a hole in your calendar, you’ll feel it in your revenue.

So how do you fix it? By building what I call a Revenue-First Calendar.

Here’s how it works:

✔ Money-making tasks go first. Sales and marketing get priority, not leftovers.
✔ Sacred time blocks are non-negotiable. Think CEO time, strategy sessions, creative space. One hour a week, minimum, to plan ahead.
✔ The calendar becomes the boss. You don’t wing it. You follow the plan, profit first.

One of my clients doubled her number of clients simply by carving out capacity in her schedule and making sales a consistent, daily practice. Another added $80,000 to her salary in the middle of “tough economic times.” The secret wasn’t magic it was their calendar.

When you build a calendar that prioritises revenue, you take control. You stop reacting to the noise, and you start creating results.

The frantic scramble for cash when the account runs dry is exhausting. It’s unsustainable. And it’s not why you started your business.

Instead of waiting for the panic, choose to panic slowly. Step back. Get strategic. Put profit at the top of your week, protect your best brain hours, and lead your business with intention.

Because the woman in the mirror, the one holding the calendar that's the only person who can fix your sales slump.

If reading this has you nodding (and maybe squirming a little), it’s time to take action.
